Its December again and time to reflect on the year as a whole, well what can we say?  ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS, what we have achieved this year can only be described as truly that.   When we embarked on this journey  of recovery after our own experience we have not only gained strength from our rehabilitation but also inspired  lots of other stroke patients and their families.    If I have to be totally honest I have been striving to ensure that this charity really is something else, a class above others, something that makes us unique and I have to admit something so so simple works and that is what we have found with “EDDIE’s CLUB”.

Due to the popularity of “EDDIE’s CLUB” we have now managed to secure nine, 9, stroke survivors back in employment since July 24 and we hope to expand this offering especially when the element of employment is not just for StrokeInformation but also other employers too and we have only been able to succeed here with our tenacity, compassion and understanding by pulling on our own experiences.   As we look back over the last 12 months with great pride we must look very favourably into 2025 and beyond, “EDDIE’s CLUB” has definitely given us a fresh perspective on the future of Stroke care focusing on preventative measures but also channelling mindset into coping strategies and managing our new way of life.   A great way to begin is by adopting the 4 A’s   1) Awareness, make those close to you as in family members, work colleagues, friends and associates aware that you have had a stroke and that things are a little different that they used to be. 2) Acknowledgement, having that realisation that the stroke actually happened will help you in the long run, no matter how long it takes.  3) Acceptance, as soon as you an accept that what has happened has happened and it CONNOT be undone, you will start to improve.  4) Action, exactly that, take action whether it be a change of diet, exercise more, less, dink less, smoke less, try to cut any stress out of your life.  In our experiences there has always been evidence of a trigger and almost everyone we have come into contact with has suggested that there has been something that ignited that blue touch paper.

As the year closes we must encourage everyone to get on board with “EDDIE’S CLUB” and also promote “Eddie’s Easter Eggstraviganza” where we plan to celebrate our 9th Birthday.
