September 2025

September 2025 –  Welcome to September and welcome to StrokeInformation our website is designed to educate, raise awareness, and offer support individuals affected by stroke, that is truly unprecedented and bespoke based on real life experience.     We offer a true peer to peer support  network and our FREE WhatsApp forum is second to none.     Our established drop in facility which takes place every Monday (except BANK HOLIDAYS) between 10 am and 12 pm is free to attend and that includes anyone who wants to learn more about strokes and the impact they have on a person.  What if you’re not based in or around Stockport or are reliant on others for transportation??    Well have no fear, you can always attend via Zoom and if that is an option you would like to explore or what to just join our fabulous WhatsApp community then please email us via contactus@strokeinformation.co.uk

Strokes are among the leading causes of disability and death worldwide. Whether it’s a first-time experience or someone in your family is affected, understanding the early signs, preventative measures, and recovery process can make all the difference. At StrokeInformation, we aim to arm you with the tools and knowledge you need to navigate this life-changing event.   Whilst there are other resources out there that focus on the preventative measures we like to use our wealth of experience to help guide others about their new way of life, how to cope, how to manage and how to be the best version of yourself.   In essence this has been instilled in me since September 2012 when I suffered my Haemorrhagic stroke, otherwise known as a bleed.    I was visited in Hospital by the national charity and although I was just coming to terms with my new me, I was given a folder which was like war and peace.  The first page I turned to was titled “How to avoid a stroke” my immediate reaction was 🤷🏻‍♂️ this is no good for me, I’ve just had one and whilst I appreciate that I was lucky to be alive, I wanted to know how to cope, how to manage, how to educate others how to help a stroke patient.   So that is how StrokeInformation was formed and now we actually employ stroke survivors giving them hope and a sense of purpose once more .

In my experience and that others that have expressed a view, we have found that if you adapt the FOUR A’s into your own recovery, you won’t go far wrong.  A for Awareness (let everyone you know aware of your new situation in order that they can treat you with compassion and dignity.  A for Acknowledge,  Acknowledgement, appreciate what’s happened to you, for the first few months, even longer there will be an element of denial (oh its not happened to me)  A really big one nest,  A for Acceptance  like the previous A there is an element of denial but if you accept it, rather than push it way or revert back into your shell you will start to find new pathways and eventually take Action which is the 4th A in this little bitesize chunk of educational material.

So whether you are a fellow survivor or a valued supporter, remember you are not alone.       https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAyKJAtDNCw
