Firstly, I have to share the news of the passing of a true gentleman, a friend, a good egg and a tremendous steward at Stockport County and Sale when they were at EP, Richard Isherwood will be sadly missed by all that new him and my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. RIP Mister Richard Isherwood you were an absolute diamond, god bless.
Obviously after that news, a bit of a mixed bag today, got an email from the wife of a Stroke survivor who we have been in contact for a while now and I recently asked for an update on how he was progressing, not brilliant news in that he is struggling and has to be turned every couple of hours and that the local authority might not be able to fund his care 🙄 Keep fighting Simmo, we are here for you….
Then another email from the mother of a stroke survivor who had his stroke last year and is in his twenties and they have been informed that he is deemed fit for work… 😯 whoever deemed this, how do they know?? The chap is now worried about re-training and I know he could do without this extra pressure, this is another reason why this government of ours need to step up the after care of Stroke services. In Stockport alone we have seen an increase of 35% in one year…..awareness is key, prevention without doubt is the best way but we are not going to stop strokes so we have to work out how best to deal with the aftercare.
