January 2023

Welcome to 2023, hope you are well;   Yes another year passes and yet we are more determined than ever to break through the many many misconceptions that surround stroke, we will continue to help guide others impacted by Stroke using our mantra of #WeCareBecauseWeveBeenThere.

One thing that I must give my opinion on is the amount of television adverts for some of our leading charities, yes I know the sector has had it really hard during the pandemic but asking people to donate amounts such as £10 or £15 because it will help some get used to their new life whether it be their loss of sight or other traumatic event or indeed provide them with a bed for a night.  REALLY??    In my eyes people should only donate to charity if they believe in the cause, the amount shouldn’t even come into it, given the last 3 years and the cost of living situation people should only donate if they can afford it.   These messages are not only on television, the big charities are turning to social media too to get supporters signed up and Ive just seen one recently offering something in return for their details and Im not talking about pin badges or wristbands, is that what some of the budget goes on that people have donated for the cause?  I mean how much of a marketing budget must they have?   Whereas we will ensure that every donation no matter how small will go to help guid other that have been impacted by Stroke.

Not only is that the case we will also try and get the stroke survivor back into employment and being part of something once more, improving their self worth.  This time last year we employed our first ever employee, a stroke survivor post stroke of 6 years and they are a very very important member of the team and the plan is to add more and more using their experience to guide and educate others.
